From Ireland to the Skagit Valley ...
200 Years of Potato Growing Tradition

Since 1903 the Wallace family has been growing potatoes in one of the world's finest potato growing environments - the Skagit Valley of Washington State.

G&D Wallace, Inc. was formed by George Wallace and Dick Wallace in the 1950s. They began farming together on the same land farmed by their father, Robert Wallace, and their uncles George and Tom Wallace. George, Tom and Robert (together with their parents and a number of other brothers and sisters) had settled in Burlington, Washington after immigrating from Ireland in 1894.

The Wallace's potato farm in Ireland was in a small village called Ardtrasna, located on the northwest coast of Ireland near the towns of Sligo and Donnegal. The family's potato growing history in Ireland goes back to at least 1750. The family had originally immigrated from Scotland.
